Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the GGM Ranch?
Our primary ranch is in Llano, Texas. That’s smack-dab in the middle of the Texas Hill country. It’s surrounded by ranches and vineyards but don’t worry, our cows don’t drink any wine.
What other kinds of livestock do you raise?
In addition to our grass-fed cattle, we raise wild hogs.
What kind of cattle do we raise at GGM?
Well, besides raising Happy Cows (they don’t all come from California you know), we raise Angus and Brangus cattle. We are currently working on expanding our family to include Wagyu (Kobe & Angus cross breed) cattle as well, so be looking for those in the coming months!
Are GGM’s livestock truly grass-fed and without shots, steroids or antibiotics?
Yes, yes and yes. We raise all of our cattle on natural Texas grasslands and pure spring water. They roam a free range and eat natural grasses. They are not given any shots, antibiotics, or otherwise at all. The traceability of our cattle is guaranteed, as most all of our cattle are born and raised on our ranch. The first few cattle that we purchased to begin this business were grass-fed cattle from a ranch just next door. The same origination and traceability goes for all other livestock as well.
What’s life like for a GGM cow?
Our cows are free to roam over 1000 acres of grasslands in Central Texas. Our ranches are located in Llano, Gonzales, and Holland Texas. They spend their days relaxed and happy – the only thing they think about is finding that next clump of fresh Texas grass. Stress free cows produce beef that’s superior in taste and texture.
What are the health benefits to eating grass-fed meat?
The research on health benefits of grass-fed meat is expansive, and we happen to know for a fact that raising cattle without hormones, antibiotics or any filler produces cuts of meat that have substantially less fat than traditional meat, and provides you and your family with a naturally lean choice for meat.
For starters, grass-fed, natural beef like ours is very high in heart-healthy Omega 3’s, and CLA’s. Most of our beef is completely free of fatty marbling – which is not something that we do in the processing phase. Our beef is naturally low in fat, saturated fat and cholesterol. We offer the leanest, most tender, most flavorful meat on the market.
Is there any research I can reference on the benefits of eating meat from livestock that have a grass-fed diet?
- Time Magazine recently wrote a lengthy piece on grass-fed beef and the health benefits it carries.
- The Food Revolution has plenty to say about “going grass-fed!”
- Mother Earth online wrote a great piece about the amazing qualities and benefits of a grass-fed diet.
